I need your help to bury the mourning dove. It died and I put it in the freezer between the peas and leftovers from the last Thanksgiving we were together. You said you couldn’t forgive me, said I’d sharded us into sharp bits that bored into your soles and lacerated your soul, but the dove’s wings are flaked with ice and it deserves closure.
