cotton dawns its makeup
with a palette of delicate greys
applying just the appropriate amount
to contour gentle shadows &
b i l l o w y outlines
these puffy pillows pop
across the sprawling sky
until their assortment, this arrangement
—frozen in place—
settles, a bleached popcorn
mountain range          ripe for the taking

if only, if only
we could harvest the sky
